The Fharmacy Public House opened in January 2023 featuring two floors of seating in a historic building that was home for many years to a pharmacy (as well as a grocery store, doctors’ offices and more). With a pub-like atmosphere, large stage for music performances, rooftop deck overlooking idyllic Commons Park and an outdoor beer garden on Lake Mills’ quintessential small town Main Street, The Fharmacy offers an experience like no other in the area. The taproom will be followed this year by the introduction of our kitchen within the facility. A brand new, fully equipped kitchen is installed and ready to go… all we need is you!
Locally owned, with on-site involved management and ownership, our approach to food at The Fharmacy will be creative with strong standard offerings as well as rotating featured items that allow for further creative development and flexing by our Head Chef & Kitchen Manager.
Desired Qualities or Experience
- 3+ years of head chef or kitchen management experience with a passion for creative cooking
- 8+ years of overall commercial kitchen experience – understands & proficient at all kitchen stations
- Ability to problem-solve & thrive in a fast-paced, possibly high-pressure, environment
- Team player with the ability to work & communicate with managers & staff, both FOH & BOH
- Holds themselves & team to high standards & works to achieve or surpass those standards daily
- Understands the importance of the customer experience & the kitchen’s part in that experience
- Embraces the administrative side of their position as well as culinary side
- Knowledge of food preparation & existing health & safety standards
- Ability to effectively supervise, direct & lead a small team of individuals
- Time management strengths with the ability to multi-task
- Familiarity with best practices in the industry
- Competent computer skills & ability to learn more if needed
- ServSafe certification
Job Duties
- Lead & supervise all BOH employees
- Menu creation in conjunction with owner & management
- Work any kitchen station as necessary
- Maintain & manage food quality standards & recipe adherence
- Interview & train BOH personnel & conduct performance reviews, staff check-ins & meetings
- Coordinate cross-training activities & menu training with FOH and BOH staff
- Develop process/training plan(s) for BOH & implement as necessary
- Maintain impeccable safety & sanitation standards
- Manage food & product ordering by keeping detailed records & minimizing waste
- Maintain diligent record-keeping & report to management / owners in a timely manner
- The ability to execute all daily operations to include but not limited to: Prep, Line Production or Cooking, Shift Execution, Ordering, Recipe Adherence, Recipe Development
