Position: Brewer/Production Brewer

Reports to: Head Brewer, and/or VP of Ops

FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $22-$28 per hour

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

 

·       Hot side production: milling, mashing in, sparging, hop boil, KO

·       Run CIP, familiar with sanitation practices

·       Meet all QC/QA standards and practices

·       Can safely handle chemicals

·       Maintain fast-paced production brewing pace

·       Responsible for beer production from raw materials through packaging and release

·       Notice industry trends, communicate within brewer community to keep up with opportunities and brewery changes

·       Develop new and innovative beers as well as produce our flagship beers

·       Work collaboratively with the Head Brewer and Lead Brewer to carry out the daily production needs

·       Troubleshoot equipment, notify Head Brewer of any irregularities

·       Keep meticulous records (brew log & brewery software)

·       Serve as a technical and educational resource for brewing operations; assist in training new brewing & cellar staff members

·       Technical and practical knowledge of brewery operations, including but not limited to:

Cellaring, cleaning and maintenance best practices, SOP development and enforcement (current & future processes)

Yeast management, fermentation theory/practice

o  Inventory management & communication of inventory levels to Head Brewer

o  All aspects of analysis, bitterness, color and alcohol percentage

·       Clean kegs, fill kegs, and store kegs and other packaged beer products in the cold box

·       Facilitate canning line progress by unloading finished product; categorize, palletize and store in a timely manner

·       Ability to prioritize safety and carry out safety standards while working in various conditions (i.e. with hazardous chemicals, handling of hazardous materials, exposure to hot fluids and steam, exposure to pressurized vessels and transfer lines)

·       Adjust to varying brew schedule shifts

·       Work with Head Brewer and VP of Operations on annual goals and reviews


Education & Experience:

 

 

·       1-3 years of production/commercial brewing experience preferred

·       Must be at least 21 years of age

·       OSHA and Forklift certification a plus

·       Must have an interest and love of craft beer

·       Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with Management at all times

·       Ability to adjust to changing schedules and priorities

·       Must be punctual, have good attendance, and a reliable means of transportation to work

·       Availability to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays preferred

·       Operate forklift, scissor lift, cart, hand truck, pallet wrapper and manual and powered pallet jack

·       Capable of safely lifting 160 lbs and be able to push/pull up to 2,200 lbs using a pallet jack

·       This position will require you to stand, walk, and be on your feet for long periods

·       Bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and performing repetitive motions

·       Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights

·       Regularly communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information

·       Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
