Position Overview:

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for all financial operations of the organization. This includes maintaining accurate records, preparing accurate financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The Accounting Supervisor will supervise two staff members and in doing so oversee all billing, Accounts Payable, fixed asset tracking, month end close, budgeting and various other finance functions. The Accounting Supervisor will also be responsible for assisting HR in some functions, such as payroll, health insurance coverage, and our 401k plan. 

Working Relationships:  

The position reports directly to the VP, Finance and will collaborate with all departments.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff of 2 including hiring, training, coaching and professional mentoring
  • Supervise entire billing and cash collection function handled by staff accountants
  • Supervise entire AP process handled by staff accountants
  • Assist HR with PII processes
  • Manage communication between employees and health benefits providers. Review monthly for out-going employees to ensure proper updates (enrollment changes, terminations, new hires)
  • Act as key stakeholder of our ERP OrchestratedBeer (SAP)
  • Extract raw data from our ERP and manipulate as needed to arrive at desired outcome
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and make appropriate recommendations
  • Supervise accounting team’s processing of expense reports using concur. Review periodic reports detailing spending by category, by employee
  • Generate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including detailed P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow statements
  • Act as primary liaison with external auditors and external tax preparation team
  • Work with production planning team to ensure timely and accurate excise tax submission
  • File all local and state tax (sales tax, bottle deposits, personal property tax)
  • Manage company’s cash flow- timely AR collections, no loss due to bad debt
  • Maintain reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts. Oversee completion of, and review, monthly bank reconciliations
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or pursuing CPA
  • Masters degree in Accounting preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience or public accounting or 5 years private accounting – must have supervisory experience
  • Strong business acumen, detail oriented & analytical mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.  Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience with SAP preferred
