Under direction of the Director of Operations, the Production Technician is trained on, and responsible for all aspects of the production cycle. Daily duties could include tasks in Pre-Production, Start Team or Harvest Team. It is the responsibility of the Production Technician to follow all established SOPs and propagate yeast according to the production schedule. Shift hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Essential Functions & Duties:
- Utilizes autoclave to ensure required materials and equipment are sterilized and ready to use when needed
- Responsible for transportation of materials between the production and cold storage rooms
- Assembles and fills vessels in accordance with SOPs
- Samples, tests gravity and pitches yeast into vessels
- Participates in daily cleaning routine of production work space
- Performs steam sanitization of process piping (SIP)
- Utilizes lab centrifuge in order to obtain accurate cell counts
- Calibrates and ensures accuracy of Clean Room equipment including scale and PH probe
- Operates the Harvest Sealer to remove propagation portion of vessel in addition to creating QC packs for testing
- Responsible for proper labeling and storage or finished harvested yeast
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of applicable experience. Clean room experience a plus
- Knowledge of aseptic technique a plus
- Ability to read and follow SOPs required
Physical Demands:
Medium work: Employee may, or may not, have a workstation or office. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 25%. Requires walking, standing and/or driving for more than 75% of the workday. Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work environment is wet/humid and position may encounter hot/cold conditions.
