Lead Brewer
Job Description:
Reporting to the Head Brewer and Production Director, Jack’s Abby is in need of a Lead Brewer who will be responsible for the day to day brewing, training and troubleshooting our 60 bbls CFT brewhouse.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Yeast management
- Assigning lager yeast to brews per week
- Scheduling Props (ale/lager)
- Working with the Director of Brewing Operations and Production Director to
- Assign tanks to brew
- Make sure weekly program is scheduled correctly
- Monitoring boiler and boiler chemicals
- Schedule spent grain pickups
- Schedule pilot grain hopper pickups
- Monitoring the air compressor
- Order O2 from Middlesex Gases
- Make sure brewing data is being inputted properly and in a timely manner into accounting software
- Record any issues with the brew house and communicate them with Treesse
Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a brewery production leadership role
- Proven effective management skills
- Ability to multi-task and to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong technology skills and comfortable adopting technology tools
- Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, climb steep stairs repeatedly, twist/turn, reach over shoulders, bend/stoop and stand/walk on a continual basis
- Willingness to be frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme cold or hot conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and do physically demanding work is required.
- Willingness to work with strong cleaning agents is required.
