Head Brewer

We are looking for a Head Brewer focused on making quality craft beer and making sure it’s available for both our taproom and distribution channels. A Head Brewer at Lake Time Brewery is responsible for the full scope of Lake Time brewing, day-to-day production and packaging of beer at the brewery, inventory management, cleaning and maintenance of brewing facility, and all associated equipment and supplies. The individual is a self-motivated, energetic, and passionate individual who leads recipe formulation and ensures that all Lake Time beer is of the highest quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
While a formal brewing education degree or certificate is preferred for this position, we are willing to train the right person if we feel you're a good fit for our team. We would at least prefer a minimum of 2 years of brewery experience – understanding of the brewing process, sanitation, yeast handling, and quality control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but not limited to, the production and packaging of beer, recipe development, working with and directing other members of the team to ensure all beer that leaves the facility is of the highest quality and that the brewery is kept clean, functional, and up to Lake Time Brewery standards at all times. Specific duties include:
● Brew and package beer according to brew schedule.
● Monitor quality and temperature of fermenting beers on a daily basis.
● Monitor pressure in tanks at all times.
● Record gravities, temperatures, and pH daily and keep impeccable barrel records.
● Manage, monitor and maintain inventory specifically of finished beer, grain, hops, and other raw materials inventory.
● Select and order raw materials to be used throughout the brewing process; i.e., grain, hops, yeast.
● Develop new recipes to meet market demands and trends.
● Label all kegs and other packaged products in accordance with federal and state law. using appropriate keg collars, labels and date codes.
● Maintain all required paperwork and records including, but not limited to, brew logs, inventory sheets, packaging records, and recipe sheets.
● Keep production facilities clean and functional at all times, including cleaning tanks, brewhouse, kegs, pins, packaging line and other equipment.
● Manage equipment maintenance schedules.
● Perform preventative maintenance on a weekly/monthly basis as required and follow all cleaning and maintenance schedules.
● Work with Owner to keep an improvement log on all issues related to production as they develop.
● Maintain all safety and health standards.
