SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000 per year + quarterly bonus potential

LOCATION: Basecamp Brew Pub – Roseland, VA

ROLE SUMMARY:

The FOH Shift Manager is responsible for coordination and oversight of Basecamp shifts.  The FOH Shift Manager manages people, as well as operations, to ensure a high-quality experience for all patrons and employees.  They oversee programmatic areas of the restaurant/grounds in collaboration with other assistant managers. They oversee beverage list creation, liquor ordering, liquor/beer/wine inventory, etc.  The Shift Manager may act as the Assistant General Manager in their absence and assist the Assistant General Manager with the following: beverage sales/costs analysis, performance management, food quality, customer satisfaction, ordering/inventory, and cleanliness/sanitation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Ensure that guests feel welcome upon arrival and throughout their experience
  • Ensure that food + beverage is served at a high quality
  • Make sure that employees are properly trained so that cleanliness and sanitation standards are consistently met
  • Control cash and other receipts by abiding by all company policies and procedures
  • May make hiring/termination decisions in lieu of Assistant General Manager
  • Complete all relevant paperwork in a timely manner (reports, forms, invoices, etc.)
  • Complete performance management for staff
  • Determine staffing levels and schedule staff to ensure that adequate staffing is available
  • Fully understand and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to alcohol service, health, and safety
  • Regular contacts are made with individuals from other internal departments, outside organizations, and/or the general public for purposes of exchanging information which may require some judgment or interpretation
  • Communication is usually cooperative in nature, with somewhat frequent conflicts requiring confrontation and appropriate use of tact  
  • Conducts work in a standing and sitting position; job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and light lifting.
  • Requires frequent operation of a variety of office machines
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of food and beverage/restaurant experience
  • 2+ years of restaurant and/or bar management experience
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage industry
  • Sound analytical skills (mathematics, organization, etc.)
  • Ability to manage people in a high-stress, fast-paced working environment
  • The ability to create and maintain a high-quality environment for employees
  • The ability to deal tactfully with difficult customers
  • Knowledge of business English and spelling
  • Basic to Intermediate level proficiency in office-related software
  • Office equipment skills pertaining to computer, copier, postage meter, printer, phone, laminator, projector, and scanner
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
